Wicked Little Letters

Watched at the movies (yah!). Rating: 4/5

When Edith and fellow residents begin to receive wicked letters full of hilarious profanities, foul-mouthed Rose is charged with the crime. However, as the town’s women investigate the crime themselves, they suspect that something is amiss, and that Rose may not be the culprit after all.

Set in Littlehampton after World War 1. Poison pen letters that use language no lady would ever use (well then anyway), even though Rose is the obvious choice, it turns out it’s the God fearing person no one would even suspect.

A fabulous way to spend a grey Sunday afternoon (and a reward to myself for spending the morning in the garden digging clay!). There are so many laugh out loud moments in this movie that it’s seriously worth a visit. The last scene just keeps on giving – I’m still smiling as I write this.

The peaceful atmosphere of this small town in West Sussex was shattered when a peculiar phenomenon began to spread through the community like wildfire – women receiving anonymous foul-mouthed letters. The insidious messages were filled with venomous words and vicious attacks on personal character. As word of these wicked little letters spread, fear and suspicion gripped the hearts of residents, elevating an unassuming seaside town into a hotbed of intrigue. This movie is the story of those letters.
