On Saturday night, we dined at the Curator’s House. It was once the dwelling for the person who looked after the Botanical Gardens and has, for years, been a restaurant with a Spanish theme – for food and wine although not for decor, or anything else. The menu relies heavily on tapas.
My son and daughter-in-law were visiting, and so there were a couple of my close friends as well and together we numbered 6 – small but select.
Four of us decided on the Tapas Tasting Selection, and it was fabulous.
- chorizo
- chicken and serrano ham croquetas
- calamari
- eggplant fries
- quinoa salad
- patata bravas
The eggplant fries were the takeout dish there – they were just so unexpectedly fabulous. To the above was added Chuletas de Cordero – lamb loin chops with gourmet potato. The chops were juicy and tender, and the potatoes were boring. (Don’t know what was gourmet about them.)
A couple of bottles of Spanish red (at a very reasonable price $43 per bottle which I thought was a very good price for a restaurant to charge) were consumed too
A great evening, and as my daughter-in-law doesn’t drink, a sober driver!
